Interview with Author Darren Shan
“I love you too,” Larten whispered, then dug his nails into the soft flesh of the throat, and didn’t stop…
Larten Crepsley is a 200 year old vampire General, respected widely by vampires everywhere, but he has one shortcoming. He’s fallen in love with a human. She looks twice his age but is actually less than half of it. He is desperate to keep her safe from the bloodthirsty Vampaneze, but he is just too late. After her death, he sets out on a quest for revenge, and what he finds is utterly devastating…
‘Brothers to the death’ is the final instalment of a 4 book series ‘The saga of Larten Crepsley’, and has a revolutionary new look on the life of vampires. A member of the closely knit ‘Vampire Clan’, Larten is regularly sent on missions, so he has very little time to spend with his Fiancée, Alicia, but he finds time whenever he can. Then, when he is tipped off that a mad Vampaneze is going to kill her, he rushes home to save her, but doesn’t get there in time. On his quest, he discovers a web of betrayal and deceit woven into his life. The final twist is a killer…
In book one, Larten became a vampire after being ‘blooded’ by a vampire Elder, Seba Nile. In book two, he is trained to become a general with his close friend, Wester. In book three, he treks through Iceland, his life destroyed by a terrible deed.
After all this, you would think he was finished, but not quite. He still has a shred of revenge left in him. When the Nazi’s themselves tried to gain the help of the clan, it just complicates matters.
Lead on a wild goose chase around the world, he discovers that even his closest friends cannot be trusted…
“Not your traditional vampire story,” says Darren Shan, the author, “but just as gory!”
