Year 8 rounders League success
Yesterday afternoon the year 8 rounders team managed a magnificent 3 wins out of 3 against NK, RP and City of Lincoln Academy. The first match was against RP. There were a few nerves on show as it was the Year 8s first match of the year. Captain Liz Ashcroft won the toss and elected to field. A couple of obstructions gave away a few ½ rounders, but the tremendous bowling of Tilly Wilks and brilliant backing up from all the fielders only allowed NK to score 6 rounders. With some brilliant running around the bases, particularly by Liz scoring the vital last rounder, The Priory LSST managed to clinch the first victory by ½ a rounder! Phew! The second match was against RP. Again the bowling was on fire as were the diving stops of Amber, the long throws of Lydia Patten and the terrific football skills of Evie Cannon, we managed to get RP all out after just 18 balls! The Priory only needed 6 ½ to win, this was accomplished comfortably after just 18 balls!
The girls next match was against The Priory City of Lincoln Academy. We had managed to catch a glimpse of the team through the evening and they looked on amazing form. There was a slight change in the field Amy Johnson stepped up to bowl, Tilly went to the deep field and Sophie Hockenhull covered both 3rd and 4th base. This game saw some fantastic fielding from Maddie and the fielding duo of Zoe and Liz come into full force. The girls managed to ball City out for 4 ½ rounders in 21 balls. In just 18 balls Priory had managed to hit 5 ½ brilliant rounders and seal the victory. All 9 girls played fantastically well and should extremely proud of themselves!
If you see any of the following please say congratulations. Liz Ashcroft, Evie Cannon, Amber Cannon, Zoe Dunnett, Tilly Wilkes, Maddie Benton, Amy Johnson, Lydia Patten and Sophie Hockenhull.
Superb performance girls! Well done!
