AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
This qualification offers opportunities to develop skills demanded by employers in the UK today. The structure of the course enables students to gain qualifications at their own pace and build on their achievements. Students will have the opportunity to acquire the essential knowledge and tools for the world of work by developing transferable skills such as planning, research and analysis, working with others and effective communication.
For each unit students build a portfolio of evidence relating to the Assessment Objectives. All units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by an OCR Visiting Moderator. Units are graded Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*. The final grade for the qualification is calculated from the grade achieved for each unit.
This qualification is suitable for:
• Students studying in preparation for employment in IT
• Students wishing to gain a Level 3 qualification to support further study in Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) in IT
• Students wishing to gain a Level 3 qualification to support further study in FE or HE in any other sector or subject area
This qualification is designed to enable students to enter employment at an operative or trainee level within a wide range of Information and Communication Technology environments. Students would normally enter employment through a work-related training programme.
