Art

The Art Department is a positive environment for learning, encouraging individuality and originality subsequently raising the self-esteem of pupils by valuing their ideas and opinions and celebrating successes of all levels. Displays reflect the high standards achieved and provide exemplar material.  Teachers in the department are encouraged to share their expertise and ideas developing effective teamwork and support.  The ‘open door’ policy enables pupils to use the studios outside timetabled lessons and pupils studying GCSE are actively encouraged to give extra time to the subject.  The ethos of the department is one of active learning, supportive interaction, experimentation and creativity.

Facilities in the department are good.  Pupils have the use of three multi-media studios over the two sites of the academy, sewing machines, ICT facilities and a projector and screen. Over the coming months and years as the Academy grows we hope to add many more provisions for Art education, truly making the department a vibrant, modern and superbly equipped department.
