Facilities
The Academy provides modern and state of the art facilities which meet the needs of all children from the age of 6 weeks to 18 years. The Sports Hall is used for PE lessons as well as extra curricular activities. Many external groups also use this facility during the evenings and at weekends. It has a basketball, netball and badminton courts as well as 4 cricket nets.
The Dance Studio is used in PE and Performing Arts. It benefits from a sprung floor, mirrors and ballet bar as well as built in Bose sound system. Dance classes run from this area each night of the week and at weekends.
The fitness suite is not only used as part of the PE curriculum but is also available to students after school as part of the extra curricular activities offered.
The outdoor Multi Use Games Area is fully floodlit and used for Netball, Hockey, Football, Tennis and a whole host of other sporting activities including Archery.
The Academy and pupils benefit from a large field with two football pitches, athletics track and artificial cricket square.
All children at the Academy are able to use the swimming pool as part of the PE curriculum or as part of extra curricular clubs before and after school. The pool is fully heated with individual changing cubicles and pool side showers. The pool is 15m x 10m and has a fully trained swimming coach and life guard.
The Academy provides some of the best Performing Arts facilities within the local area. The main auditorium is able to seat over 350 people with tiered seating providing an excellent view of the stage. The stage is again one of the largest in the area with a range of front, mid and rear curtains. This stage also benefits from full width scenery projection, a rear led star cloth and all the modern sound and lighting you would expect within a theatre environment. This space is regularly used by all students within the Academy as well as external groups.
The Performing Arts studio is a black room which creates an ideal performance area. It has mirrors along one wall as well as a lighting rig and control desk. The room also has a built in Bose sound system.
The Music Area benefits from a recording and mixing studio. This allows students to learn how to undertake professional recordings as part of the Music Technology curriculum.
