House System
Every pupil and member of staff join one of The Witham Academy's three houses - Nelson, Wilberforce or Fry.
There are many varied competitions throughout the year including a weekly quiz and at least one sporting event and one arts event per module.
Pupils are rewarded House Points for many different reasons including any extra curricular work they may participate in. Pupils will have the opportunity to log the clubs they attend or the activities they take part in and will receive one house point for each time they attend or take part.
The new 'Community Service Award' is one that strives to recognise the achievements of pupils in the wider community. This might involve a pupil being a member of the Scouts, Cadets, or Guides or someone that volunteers at an organisation. It might even be something that is related to the Academy that they volunteer for that has an impact on the wider community. The pupils are asked to log their community activity in their planner or on their class wall chart (KS1 and KS2) and show a signature from an adult who can verify their involvement to their class teacher or form tutor who will then decide on the House Points to be given.
