A vital aspect of the Priory ethos is to ensure that students develop a wider cultural perspective and an increased sense of responsibility for other communities and the natural environment. To this end, the academy places a huge emphasis on students enjoying a wide range of opportunities to travel abroad and to experience foreign cultures.
A major aspect of our focus on internationalism is the Federation’s Centre des Etoiles in Normandy. The residential experience which the Centre provides is available to students in all year groups for a wide range of cultural and learning activities.
Charitable work is encouraged and popular and in support of this our students have travelled to India, South Africa, South America and across Europe. We support The World Challenge programme, and this has been running for about 10 years. Opportunities are available to take part in this exciting challenge, which involves working on a community project in lesser developed countries in a variety of parts of the world students have travelled to Kenya and Tanzania.
Students are able to benefit from the links which the Academy enjoys with schools in the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, India, South Africa and The United States of America.
Activities which are shared with our Partner Schools include The Radio Club, the Prague Exchange, the Odenthal Exchange, sporting tours to the West Indies and to South Africa and the India Kerala Link Visit.
We are currently participating in an innovative and exciting scientific research project at Sixth Form level with a partner school in Schleswig-Holstein.
Our popular and successful CCF allows students to participate in trips to Germany in order to take part in adventure training and work experience. There are also Diving Trips to Egypt organised for students in the CCF.
