Sixth Form
The new Sixth Form at the Priory Ruskin Academy is an exciting and vibrant place to study. Set in a rapidly developing learning environment, from September 2011 we will cater for the needs of nearly 100 students and offer 20 subjects, all taught by dedicated and specialist staff. The academic ethos in the Sixth Form means that we aspire to see a majority of students progress to University at the end of Year 13, including Oxbridge and medical schools, where appropriate.
When the new building is completed in 2013, the Sixth Form will enjoy excellent facilities: including a dedicated sixth form area with common room, study rooms and IT base; our students will not be short of places to study and relax. Our students benefit from having an Assistant Headmaster for Sixth Form issues and team of tutors who provide support for choosing courses, universities and careers as well as personal support when needed.
As well as subjects to study, students will be able to broaden their experiences in a number of ways, such as: participating in various sports, the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, going out on work experience or joining the Combined Cadet Force. Students are encouraged to hold positions of responsibility and can apply to become a Senior Student, Prefect or House Captain, as well as volunteering to help organize events such as the Year 12 formal dinner, the Christmas House events and the Year 13 Summer Ball.
Being a student at the Priory Ruskin Academy Sixth Form is a challenging, exhilarating and rewarding experience which equips all who study here with the qualifications and experiences necessary to take the next exciting step in their lives.
