Year 6 Outdoor Education Festival
On Friday 13th September 2013 the PE Department hosted a Year 6 Outdoor Education Festival. This involved 8 Primary Schools from the local area and a total of approximately 300 children taking part. The activities involved encouraging team building and foucssed heavily on the Olympic ideals for Respect, Determination, Excellence, Courage, Friendship and Inspiration.
The groups were scored out of 10 on the ideals throughout each activity and a winner of each ideal was then determined. Activities included: Blindfold sheep, shelter build, capture the flag, how high and many more.
The day was predominantly run by sports students from years 10-13, who were a fantastic asset and a real credit to the Academy on the day! Overall it was a successful day, seeing the children having fun in sport on what was also a very good day weather wise.
The PE Department look forward to the Outdoor Education Festival next year.
On Wednesday 11th September Priory Witham Academy hosted two football matches against Priory LSST with varying degrees of success.
Our Year 7 team (depleted due to the French trip) were on the wrong end of a 7-0 scoreline, but displayed a great attitude throughout the match.
Our Year 8 team came from behind twice to win 6-3! Lewis Drysdale, Jack Barnsdale and Jack Wood stood out as the excellent performers during the match.
Well done to both teams.
